I ran a 5 gallon without a filter for 1 year and a half. Although after about 6 months I added a small canister filter. I removed all the filtration from it just to put a bag of chemipure in it.(ghetto carbon reactor) It supported a clown, shrimps, anemone and shrooms. 80% water twice a month sometimes once a month. Nothing ever died in the tank, no crazy algae outbreaks, no water chemistry issues. I am becoming a fan of these pico/nano tanks. All the livestock from that tank went into my new 8 gallon. My new Cadlights tank has enough room in the back for a skimmer, media bags, heater, ATO. I am very impressed with the Cadlights pico/nano tanks. There are some very nice all in one options out there.
