Nice setup!
Beautiful nano man. How are you lighting it and dosing, etc? Good growth!
The lights are a custom LED build. Been tweaking it for a couple years. Started with Cool White and Royal Blue in a 1:1. Then added a three Violet/UV. I had that PAR measured and it was hitting 150-300 at the sand bed of a 10gal nano (see threads below). SPS's were encrusting, but no upward movement. I added some Turquoise, and Red and BOOM!!! All SPS's started taking off and up. Adding some more Hyper Violet and True Violet and the Coraline algae began taking off. I used established live rock and GARF grunge and the only algae outbreak was due to my wife using drinking water as makeup instead of purified water.
For the last 16 months I've used 2 part B-Ionic, and then BRS 2part DAILY. I've just set up a nano calc reactor and already see the SPS's putting up new growth. I believe the extra co2 in the water is giving the algae in the coral more fuel for growth. I want to get the ALk up to 9dkh and steady.
I have an AquaC EV-120 skimmer on the tank witch has starved the tank (in the past) to the point were some Montipora's just bleached, and in two cases died off. Had to add a lot of amino acids into the tank before the bleached corals came back. No other corals were affected. I have some cheat in the sump with reverse lighting to try and keep the pm pH up but it still falls to 7.91 by morning.
Ok, looks great. Figured there had to be a sump involved...
your results are extraordinary!
good work all a round
Thanks for the tip about the red leds and sps , just got a new fixture in and ill program it towards red dominant lighting for sps growth
Looking good Dave. Amazing you can grow SPS so well in such a small setup!
Updates? Your tank is beautiful. Write up on your water chemistry is awesome
Looks awesome Dave
