      Cycling tank with Scripps water

      Hello Guys,
I am just starting up a 60 gallon tank with scripps water. I understand that its good to let Scripps water sit in the dark for at least 2 weeks before adding to the tank. But when I am in the process of cycling the tank is it ok to fill the water directly without letting it sit for 2 weeks? I plan to cycle it for month at least without any fish.
      Thanks!

I used it for years on my last system, and never let it sit before adding it to the tank. Why is that the advice?

I did my 125 with Scripps. I did not let mine sit for two weeks maybe a day because it took me three trips and three days. (no truck)

I use scripps in my display. I would use it the same day if I had the time, but I usually pick it up at night and do my water change the next day. No problems!

This dark period was supposed to help with a plankton die off that would cause an algae bloom theory

I cycled my tank with no lights with scripps water for over a month and still got hair algae when I introduced lights. Although the hair algae for some reason is only attached to my glass which is weird. It leaves the rocks and sand alone. It's dying off now though so it's a new tank thing. I also just went nuts and introduced 15 coral half of which were SPS in one whole shebang but everything is doing fantastic. I haven't even changed the water since the initial fill-up and just have been topping off with distilled and dosing. Never had this much success in just a short period of time with a tank so I attribute it to the water.
