      My 220 Gallon Build

      Hello Everyone,
I am going to go ahead and start my build thread now.

I currently have an 80 gallon mixed reef and I am upgrading to a 220 gallon tank. The tank will be 72lx24hx30w.
Have a metal stand being built now. Orded a custom arcylic sump from Advanced Acrylics. For anyone going RAP this upcoming weekend at the OC Fairgrounds it will be on display there. It is 51lx18hx22w.
Just got my return pump today. It is a Diablo DC pump. I also got my skimmer today. It is a Reef Octopus Regal 200int. I also have 2 Vortech mp40's, 2 mp10's and 3 Radion Gen 3's. All hooked up using the reeflink.
I will post pictures of the stand and sump soon.

      Thanks for looking.

      Jeff

No doubt, me im a 3 stepper
Step 1. use my old fish tank buy some stuff that cost alot that won't be what I want for final tank and take a good loss on reselling.

Step 2. Buy a bigger upgrade that is a temporary tank buy more stuff I might not use.

Step 3. Stop wasting soo much damn time and money and buy it right. Lol

      Still on steps 1-2

Built my manifold today. Think I am going to add one more thread valve so it will be like the red handled one. So far the red one is for my brs dual reactor (gfo and carbon), One black one is barbed for my bio-pellet reactor and the other two are spares. Not sure what else I would need them for except maybe a calcium reactor. Any thoughts please let me know. Nothing is glued yet also.

Got to see my sump for the first time today. I cannot believe how well of a job John from Advanced Acrylics did. I hate to put doors on my stand. The sump is a beast and looks amazing. Everyone at RAP was checking it out.

Saw that sump today. Aside from the filter socks that is a great looking sump. They did an amazing job!

Why don't you like the filter socks? I don't have to use them all the time also. Got a picture of my stand build today also.

I have used them in the past and have not used them at all. I see no benefit to having them. In fact on the last tank I had them on my water params were better without them. If I am doing maintenance I will tie one to my drain but that is the only time I use them. They are nasty and no fun to clean. All your water passes through them so the solids it picks up still puts out microbial waste that gets into your water. Here is a good example for those of us that dont have a degree in water chemistry. Would you poo into that filter sock and then take a bath in the water that passed through the sock? A good skimmer will take out what needs to be taken out of your water. With your manifold create a low flow section in your sump for the skimmer that way the skimmer has some time to get rid of the waste. Just my opinion but we all do things different. I am envious of that sump they did you right.

Your build looks awesome! Nice stand. You are doing it right. That will be a legit setup when it is done.
