      GARF Group buy anyone?

Planning to place an order with GARF on 3 October with an expected delivery date of 7-8 October. At this point no discount, we're just saving on shipping by sharing the cost. If we get a big enough purchase together, I'll ask them to consider a discount. For now, let me know what you want to order by the 1'st, I'll submit the list for a quote, and get back to everyone with a price. PayPal is acceptable; I will consider fronting $ on a case by case, but assume cash up front by the 3'rd.

      Hi all.

      http://www.garf.org

Been using these guys for over 10 years. Im interested in getting a cleanup crew of hermits and snails.

Their grunge is good for starting tanks and introducing micro fauna and flora either to your main tank, or refuge. (Its a little on the ugly side for most to put in their display tank. Look at my 10 gal and see for your self)

Their corals are decent and occasionally come in with some great extras. One of their home-made coral 'plugs' came in full of mini brittle stars.

Bag-o-bugs are rather weak. Better to get a couple pounds of grunge.

Sally Jo is very nice; her husband passed a few years back. Shipment usually takes a few days, but has always arrived in good shape.

Again, I'm getting some hermits and snails…anyone interested let me know.

      Cheers,
      Dave

Any opinions on how many snails and crabs I should get for my tank? I just started out cycling my tank 5 days ago. In my tank right now is LS and 30 lbs LR. 34g tank.

Ive set up 3 tanks in the past, my 10 gal being the latest, by introducing grunge, snails, and hermits in the same tank on the same day. Never had an algae bloom. Sally Jo (GARF) recommends 1 snail per gal, and one hermit per 2 gallons, for tanks that have some algae already in them. in my opinion, for a new start up, you may consider using less (2/3'rds), and go with 20 snails and 10 hermits. My tank is having a slight bloom due to all the detritus i stirred up moving everything from the 10 gal to the 24. I'm going with a 24 gal clean up crew.

I've never used their GARF Grunge Bright, but if you don't like the look of their original Grunge, you might try some in your main display. If you're using a sump/refuge their Grunge/Grunge plus is great…shrimp, copepods, worms, mini brittle stars, and all the bacteria for a quick cycle.
