      Leds for growing sps

Which leds are proven to grow sps? Anyone have any luck with any? I need something to cover 30x24x30.

Your question is too vague as there are a bazillion diefferent choices. But yes there are a lot that grow sps, from cheap china boxes to radions

I'm a beginner to sps so I'll let the sps gurus step in for recommendations although i have seen really nice tanks with photons and a couple using lumini

Some of the UV rich LEDs like AI hydra and radion will grow hardy sps OK but you always struggle with dark colors and mixed success. IME nothing grows better than t5s and halides

So a 24" 8 bulb t5 would do wonders vs the generic leds

I think you will find more people saying that you are better off with T5's and/or halides than any LED. That being said, Sanjay Joshi who some consider to be the ultimate tank lighting guru, has just switched over his tank to LED. I run halides and much prefer their look, but I also augment them with predominately blue LEDs.

      Why not do both T5/led
      Good color and great growth

I'm able to run the 4 bulb t5 and both leds on each side. Hopefully this will be enough.

There are LED manufacturers out there that make LED lamps in a housing built to replace T5 tubes. That might be an option as well if you already have a T5 fixture.

      Leds for growing sps

I like the LEDs for my sps tank. Ai sols, but I supplement with t5s. Probably wouldn't have to supplement if I had hydra52s or radion pros

      Here's a recent fts with 3 ai sols and 4 t5s
