      Plumbing, Drains, Pumps

I am currently working up a write up on plumbing a tank. I see a lot of post looking for advice on how to plumb a tank. Is this worth my time? If I post it I would like it to become sticky. It would go into head loss, pump size, different styles of drains and how they work, PVC flow rates ect. Other forums have this in there DIY section. I thought it would be nice to have a reference here. RC has a flow rate calculator. It is out of date I am not that smart to create my own. But I am sure someone here is. let me know what you guys think. Any help with this would be appreciated.

yeah bro. I think its a great idea and I am sure lots of people here would benefit from it. I don't have a lot of experience with doing my own plumbing but if there is anything I can help with let me know.

Id follow along. I had and still have tons of questions about my current build using the bean style method as well as questions surrounding sump plumbing and flow/pumps/reactors as well as flow rate through sump.. I can see this topic having 100's of pages real quick

I would like to see a thread like this...would also like to see in detail some drain ideas with Durso, Stockmann, Herbie, Animal bean. Included could be ideas for silencing the drain at the top and the bottom, plus ideas for controlling noise in the sump too. Minimization of salt creep. Great idea Sancho!

Its a great idea, but be ready for some debate. I think as long as the mods keep an eye out and keep it from becoming a battle back and forth it could help a lot of people out. As you mentioned, a lot of people are asking questions about these types of topics and threads like what you are suggesting are a great place to start.

On Dave's note, they are definitely controversial, however I think if you presented them as factual 'these are common options with pros/cons' and not opinionated 'this is best' you could cut down on that a bit. Target it at people looking to learn more about their options.

I am going to take my time on it and present all types of plumbing and how it works. I dont want it to become a giant debate on which is better. My goal is to have a nice reference on this site that everyone can use and make their own conclusions on what is going to work best for them.
