Reefkeeper Light head unit - $50

      Net Module - $90
APC Module (for controlling Tunzes) - $90 - have 4 APC adapter cables for $50 (they cost $20 each normally)
      SL1 - $50

What size is your tank and how much equipment are you planning on controlling? I'm not charging that much more for the RK Elite and that will allow you to control a lot more down the line should you ever upgrade or want to control a variety of equipment/probes, etc. Dave Morris is one of our resident Digital Aquatics gurus and could likely answer all your questions and more. If you are just looking for something basic to control when your lights turn off and on, show your temp and ph and possibly use it to control dosers the RKL would be more than fine. You can't do anything with just the head unit alone. PC'4 are the power strips - they have 4 outlets. An SL1 module is needed to plug in probes for temp and ph. The SL2v2 added a salinity probe option. Check out the digitalaquatics website for all their offerings.

I'm not sure what the max capabilities are of the RKL but I think for the Elite you have more options that any reefer would likely need. I used a total of 5 PC'4's on my 248g reef to control everything from halides, T5s, fans, Skimmer, powerheads, return pump, light rack fixture, etc.

. I can't remember if it's only capable with the elite or not...I'd think the DA website can confirm or Dave Morris can chime in. I only used it with my elite. By the way, Rudy bought my SL2v2 so it has been sold. You want the SL2v2 - the original SL2 won't work for Salinty...it's basically obsolete unless you want to use it just for temp/ph.

I have the SL2 but I am having issues calibrating my PH probe with RKL. I wonder if the RKE head unit would be better

The RKL will control up to 4 total modules and the PC4 is considered a module as is the SL2, SL1, etc. The RKE will control up to 63 modules and has a more intuitive interface. If you program them with the myReef software it is pretty much irrelevant. You still have the module limit but programming is the same.

The SL2v2 actually has both probes electronically isolated to prevent interference or cross talk between the probes. And the salinity probe actually works consistently. Those are the two differences between the SL2 and the SL2v2. The SL1 only does ph, temp, (2) SWITCH INPUTS, and ORP.

It makes no difference whatsoever which head unit you use. The calibration is all stored with the mode, not the head unit. The RKE head unit is definitely easier to use. It also has up to 4 standbys where the RKL head unit only has 1. The RKE can use more timers and alarms than the RKL as well, but it is a bit unusual to need more than the 16 timers and alarms that the RKL is limited to.

Marlin's prices on this stuff are way low. This is a perfect opportunity for someone that is on the fence about a controller to jump off the fence and get into the game. There is plenty of help to program and set up around here as well.

i have a 40G brdr setup. only would need it for temp, PH, Sali, any and all probes lol, circ pumps, heater, and return pump(maybe). Might hook up a doser later down the line but i dont mind the bottle and drip method if need be.
