I have used for 15 years. it is cold, clean and a bit too salty. I dose with tw part and thin it to 1.023. Free is good. Especially when a weekly water change is 50 gallons.

Same here, have been using it for years without issues but I have noticed the opposite - salinity is a tad on the low side

Absolutely, never had any issues. If you dose two part, just make sure your system is close to the parameters of the ocean water or vice versa. You don't want a big swing in alk. People lose stuff that way. Especially if your SPS dominant.

This is rad. Is there a open/close time, or is this accessible 24/7?

that's what you want for a reef yes. the alk and cal is a bit low for some peoples tastes. 6.5 , 7 as I recall w a balanced cal.

How did you calibrate your refractometer? I have calibrated mine (different ones) with 35 ppt calibration solution and the Scripps water consistently reads at about 1.024. Not that it's bad - more of an academic exercise than anything

      Anyone test Scripps lately? Would love to compare what I just tested (4.2.18). Alk - 6.5; Salinity - 1.024; Calcium - 435; Magnesium 1380; Nitrates - 0; Phosphates - 0.05.

I tested water like three weeks ago. Phosphates were high from Scripps water source. The sewage water that is being leaked from Tijuana is probably the reason for high phosphates.

Phosphates are high for about 4 days after rain. Just don't get water right after rain.

I feel like it really hasn't rained in a while and thought I'd waited long enough. Would love to see what other numbers people are getting recently.
