What do you mean by doing a drip 24/7? I have Kent's 2 part calcium bugger and I believe bionic b? But like I said I've never used it, and would like to learn how to properly use it because my sps hasn't been looking as good lately
Hi all, can some one tell me how long is OK to keep Scripps water in a bucket, no circulation, before using it?
I usually keep the water in dark buckets for about a two weeks before using it, so that all the bacteria dies off. But then I'll heat up in a large container with circulation before using it. That being said I wouldn't imagine that there would be any expiration as long as it's a sealed bucket with out evaporation.

I do the same thing, I put my spare heater set to the tank temp in the bucket the night before I'm going to use it (just in the winter, summer I use it the same day) I've used it up to s month after collecting with no ill effects.

Thanks. Is there any benefits to kill the bacteria

I don't know nothin about bacteria in Scripps water. Of all the negative things said about Scripps I can't recall anybody bringing up excess bacteria being a problem.

I don't know of any pros or cons of it but as a precaution I prefer not to add Any foreign bacteria to my tank so I with either run it through a uv or let it sit in my garage before adding it to my tank... One thing that I do with the water before adding it my tank is buffer the ph to same as my tank as it's usually lower. I'll also supplement calcium and alk as well.

I'll say it again and again....
I've used SCRIPPs for 20yrs or so.
20yrs ago... I used in solely in my 260gal reef/fish display
Today... I use it solely in all my tanks, including a 240gal reef/fish display.
Rain or shine... every 4 months I'll get 360 gallons or less, and do a water transfusion.
(no pumps are shut down... only a siphon started, and a pump to push water from streetside to sump in house)
.... never a problem.
I've always been the same way. Never had any issues with Scripps water and I have been there in the rain collecting it. Never had any issues that I could attribute to the water.

Don't get me wrong, guys. I use it every time too. But sometimes I run out of time to change it the same day as i usually do and I wanted to know if that water go bad if stays a few days in my 5gal container before I get a chance to use it. Someone told me it goes bad after a few days so I wanted to confirm that with someone who has more experience with it.
