To the SDREEFERS: I have a big van, and can get 200 gallons at a time with the containers that I currently have. If you are setting up a tank, and are going to need alot of water at 1 time, contact me and we can work something out. Weekend delivery works the best for me, but some week day is possible.
I am also equipt with a small pump and 50ft of tubing to pump thru.

I'm heading down to the pier for the first time today. I've always mixed my own salt but I work only a couple miles away from Scripps pier.

Does anyone have a picture of the actual faucet/hose deal they have there, or is it pretty obvious?

Also found some water quality readings at ....

follow the directions on the map at the beginning of this thread... when you get to the dead end by the pier... its obvious...on the left hand side there are 2 faucets and a hose connected to one (it should be laying on the ground) cant miss it.

      Ah, thank you much.

I'm thinking the large orange turn knob would be a No No.

I think there might be a change in water parameters. Maybe the next person down to get water could verify but my readings were the following..

Ca 480ppm Hagen test kit Large change
Alk 7dkh Aquarium Pharmaceuticals test kit
SG 1.025 Hydrometer glass tested at 75degrees
      PH 7.9 Hagen test kit

I'm looking for a Magnesium test kit today.

No, your tests are incorrect. I performed a test few weeks back and the results were as stated on the first page. There is one thing you can count on Natural Sea Water is consistency.

I'm getting fresh water today, ill test the calc, but i think you got an error.

No way it would change that much that quickly.

Actually that happened to me the first time around. I was curious as to what it did, and when I heard the gurgle, my only thought was "oh crap." Needless to say I remember which one turns on the hose now.

Found some dark blue 7 gallon water carriers with nice caps that have reversable faucets in them. Containers have a nice wide square footprint.

8.99 USD at Walmart in the camping section.

      That's what I'm using.

Only downside is how thin the handle is. Realy digs into your hand after carrying it a while.
