Me too. I think I will go there tomorrow for a change.
I got some from Scripps today (4/6/2018) and tested. All results from Salifert except pH (Reefkeeper probe) and salinity (refractometer).
Mg 1230 ppm
Alk 7.2 dKH
Ca 415 ppm
PO4 undetectable
NO3 0.1 ppm
Salinity 1.025
pH 8.24

Any one have any tips for storing Scripps water for up to a month? Been reading a bit about storing natural sea water and as always there is a forum argument for every angle. Specifically, are there people that store that long? Do you circulate it or aerate it? Or do you just let it sit there like I have been doing? For a 90 gallon tank with 2, 15 % changes per month, there is really only stagnate water going into the second change.
I usually stir up standing water before I add. I use Scripps, and I also use salt mix, both in a 30 gallon barrel, and don't use it all at once, usually. I've never noticed any issues having it stand around. I've stored it for long periods, never worried.
In theory standing water could breed bacteria and maybe cause a problem, but circulating water could also breed bacteria.
I think if I opened the barrel and it stunk, I probably would dump it, but again, that has never happened. I do keep it in the garage, covered to prevent evaporation and it's fairly dark inside the plastic barrel.
A long time ago I read a book where it was recommended to add chlorine to natural sea water to kill microbes when you put it into storage, and then use declor before putting it in the tank. I've never done this.
Try to keep it cool. I have mine in the basement garage. I've stored it for months just in buckets or jugs. If it goes bad you can smell it. (ammonia) Mine never has. going on ten years now. Keep the buckets clean.
Like Kris mentioned, its organics and bacteria in the water decaying that's the concern producing ammonia, or if anaerobic sulfur. again, Ive never had either happen
Cool...ill start monitoring it for my own peace of mind...let you know if I find any changes.
All I can say is that I had 2 5-gallon buckets filled that was kept in my garage for 3-4 years while I was attending college (didn't get a chance to start my aquarium project). After graduating and moving to a new house, when I opened the buckets, I expected to be greeted by pungent odors but instead, the water appeared to be clear with no detectable foul odors; it still smelled like fresh seawater.
Now, I wouldn't recommend using it, but it suggests that long-term storage in dark, cool places may not be as detrimental to seawater as feared...
Did another Scripps run today. Today's water test (4.28.18).
PH - 7.8 (Milwaukee)
Salinity - 1.024 (Refractometer)
Alk - 7.1 (Hanna)
Calcium -
Magnesium - 1280 (just updated 5.26...same batch)
Phosphate - .11 (Hanna)
Nitrates - 0 (Salifert)
Going to test same stored water in a month

Any Scripps users have any recommendations as to when it's ok to get Scripps water after a red tide?
Current tanks
1) 160g peninsula (48x30x26), Vertex illumina LED

2) 40g Nuvo Nano fusion.
My Feeedback:

Do you always skim it first, regardless of red tide or not? Also, PK, any issues with mixing NSW with mixed saltwater?
I was working in the area today so I stopped to get some water and found the large red ball valve closed and the hose bib capped tightly. Any info on why?
