If it wasn't eligal to take this water longer than 10miles it may be worth it for me, I do probably 3 -5gal WC a month, if I could take 3 5gal bottles I could be set for a month of WC.
But since it is against the law, no way.
So, you guys use this water most of the time?
He wasn't saying it was illegal to take this water further than 10 miles.... he was saying it is illegal to transport water in mass quantities (which I have never heard).Originally Posted by Little Luey

now i need to figure out how to move a bunch of water and i bet if i put it on a trailor it wont be illegal
I know a lot of people that pick up 50-100 gallons at a time, no big deal. It's the giant 1000+ gallon trucks that sell the water for profit out of the city that's the real problem from my understanding. Just as long as you're filling with the little hose, and not the high-volume line, I'd think you're safe and not breaking any laws.Originally Posted by ramonareef
I think the person who mentioned something about transporting water being illegal was talking about the fact that the water can cause your car to be unbalanced (like if you put 50 gallons on the passanger side)...I don't think they were saying there is a limit on how much water you can take and how far...
yeah i only need 50 to a 100 gallons the first time than smaller amonts after that i think im going to give it a try
When I go, I get 40 - 80 gallons at a time(2 BIG TRASH CANS FULL), and have never been stopped or ticketed for it. I also drive atleast 10+ miles to bring it home. I don't know where you got this illegal thing, but you may want to check your source again.
Cracks me up to see the great debate over scripps water come up every 2 weeks or so. The evolution of the threads is really funny.
Filtered hmm have you been to Scripps aquarium same water.
What?? 10 gallons of water weighs about 80 pounds.. what kind of car are you driving?Originally Posted by dt90gt
enough already...all necessary info regarding scripps is in the sticky at the top of this thread....
This discussion has been funny with the illegal to transport X gallons of water.
I will tell you that using a removeable tank of 500 gallons+ or a fixed tank of 1000+ gallons requires a tank endorsement on your drivers licence. The only way a smaller amount would cause legal issues is a spill of more than 55 gallons or exceeding the GVW (Gross Vehicle weight) of your car. Both of those would only be looked at if you were involved in an accident.
