      How to test a chiller?

I am trying to test a chiller a bought some time ago. Can I use a 5g bucket to test it? How much flow do chillers have running through ? Light flow heavy flow?

      Thanks SDR

thats what I did also to clean it out. check the temp when you 1st start it... then check again in 20 min. it should cool down rather quick in a 5 gal bucket

is it as easy as recharging the AC in car?

haven't had to do this yet on my chiller

sometimes the Temp probes go bad and need to be replaced
but you wouldnt know till after its recharged I assume

I was double checking the temp with a the monitor in the bucket.

So after calling every ac and appliance service company in a 20 mile radius no one wants to touch it. Luckily my brother is a licensed ac tech he said it needs to be taped to put a valve for refill on it and recharging should not be a problem because I already found out all the other info about the cooling type and lbs per fitting. . So no not easy... it's lame. I would rather pay some one then be in debt to my brother lol

      Cool glad I could help.

Btw my brother said it's the larger of the lines that needs to be taped. I will post picks when he does mine. Don't hold your breath though who knows how long it will take him to come over and do it . Lol :/

      fixxed

so my brother came over today to fix my chiller.

its running like a top and cooling the S#*T out of the water now.

i fully planed on doing a DIY write up on this, but after talking to my brother and watching him and the guy that taught him. this is NOT A DIY PROJECT. having the experience and know how is key. the lines where to small to tap so the line had to be cut and a valve soldered in to place.

with all that said if you are having the same problem pm me and i will give you my brothers phone # and he will be more then happy to charge for his awesome chiller fixing service. he is a licensed professional.

here are some pics of him fixing mine.
