About four years ago my close friend Tim Nguyen, current President of the Asian Pacific American Coalition had a vision. His vision was to have an API representative in the areas of San Diego that had the largest population of Asian Americans. After years of hard work his vision became a reality and now the race is coming to an end.
In this election race, which is winding down to its last few weeks, there is a strong possibility that San Diego will elect its first Asian American representative in over 50 years. Tom Hom was the last San Diego elected officer in the 60's. This is important because the new district will have have fair representation in the community. The election is to be held on June 3rd 2014.
I have been pretty involved with this project and I am endorsing Carol Kim for City Counsel District 6. Carol is a great representation of the community and is the role model for Asian Americans. She is your average gal next door and is not corrupted by politics and special interests groups. A school teacher, HIV prevention counselor and a mother to two children. I encourage those who live in District 6 to vote for Carol Kim.
