      Metal stand weight distribution

Does anyone know what the risk is of indenting laminate flooring via the supports on a steel frame stand? Stand is roughly 100"X38". There is a capped 2X4 rectangular tube support leg about every 20" along each long side.

Basically do I need to put wood/metal pads/plates down under the supports or is this a non issue? Is there a calculation here I need to be making?

      Thanks in advance

so there is no horizontal bar tying all the legs together?

With something that big, i would say that you do need some type of cushion between the two so you dont damage your floor. Also, if you decide to move it around you could run into issues where you scratch your floor.

Also, the bare metal touching the wood could cause some discoloration or stains on your floor. If it's painted then the paint can stain your floor...if its not painted, well then your rust will definitely mess up your floor.

The laminate flooring will break. You should either lay down tile or put in on concrete foundation.

As a wood flooring installer laminate is pretty strong but not strong enough for this much weight and very sensitive to scratches. My suggestion is to use 2x4-2x6's laid flat for weight distribution to support all the legs from denting/scratching/discoloring the laminate.

How big of a pad is needed under each leg on the stand? Redoing the floor isnt going to happen.

That piece of plywood is fine in my opinion. Basically you just need something to protect the floor. Just make sure before filled/ final placement the floor is really clean as you would be surprised how easy laminate scratches/dents. Also be careful when servicing as laminate once water penetrates the seems the floor is ruined.
