      battling heat

So i set up a 125 gallon not too long ago (transferred thungs my other tanks into this one) and things were fine. Lately though the temperature is above 80....with it reaching 84 on Saturday. I used a fan and some ice cubes in my sump and I got it down to 77. It was steady at 78 until i wake up this morning and its 81.

I have led lights 12"above the water, a glass top (which im sure can trap some heat but am riskng somwthing jumping out) and a rio3100 pump. I think the pump is the culprit.

How so i kee the temp down? I would prefer not using a chiller. Any advice will be greatly aappreciated

Are you running a heater? How high is it set? If it is your pump, I'd say that pump is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

i have a heater and set it at 73 so it wouldnt heat up the water as much since its already a bit warm. you think the pump is bad? it is pretty loud and i thought it was normal.

the temp was fine before but over the past week the days have been getting hotter so i thought that was a big factor too. plus i dont have a/c in my house right now.

Yes it could also be inside house temp rising, but that usually happens throughout the day not over night, that would lead me to believe either pump or heater. Make sure the heater hasn't gotten "stuck" turned on. But if I were you is try out a different pump and see if that solves it.

yeah, ill try that. And i have seen the heater light turn on and then off so i dont think its stuck.
