Sponges are signs of a maturing tank... it's a good thing.
I wouldent expect to see any life in a cycling tank witg Water perameters like
Ammonia +8 ppm
Nitrite +5 ppm
Nitrate 15 ppm

I know the tank is only 2 weeks old with rocks and sand that I got from some one that was braking down there were lots of worms then they died making my tank smell like sewer and it had a slime all over I got a skimmer and it took care of the smell and slime now I am just weighting for it to cycle out the ammonia

4 days ago the nitrite and nitrates were at 0 so the proses is working

All your rock and sand are from and established tank?

Ya but they were infested with bristle wroms and spegety worms. I know they r good but I dont think well over 1000 is a good thing. Seing as how after 3 days they all started dieing

Ok so the sponges were already there in the rock due to being in an established tank before and yea if 1,000 worms were in there I toss a big chunk of them. I know people say good for tank but I personally will toss them every now and then keep enough they repopulate eat leftovers.
