      Missing fish!?!?

So in the last 3 weeks I have had two fish up and disappear on me, one of them was a brand new golden head goby that I had just bought and the other was a file fish that I had for about 5 months. They did not jump out of tank, are not caught in the filters so all I can assumed is that they died and were eaten but other tank mates. I have since recently down sized from a 180 to a 125. I do not believe that I have a mystery predator hiding in the rocks but I do have a rather large red bubble tip brittle star , legs on this guy are close to a foot long, so the question is do you think that my brittle star could be the culprit and snagging these guys while they sleep? Maybe due to downgraded size and not getting enough to eat? I know they will eat pieces of shrimp or other meaty pieces but will they go after live fish?

I have heard of that happening but have not actually seen it happen or any evidence of it happening. In your scenario I would lean toward that being a real possibility though. If other critters in the tank were eating them I would think you would have seen more evidence of the carnage. The star would drag the whole fish back to its lair, wherever that may be.

Exactly what I was thinking, I have not seen a carcass at all so I have believe that they were eaten.
