oh yeah, if you don't want to buy an expensive underwater flashlight to go fish hunting, just use your regular flashlight, and put a condom on it, and tie it off with like 3 knots... there ya go... cheap underwater flashlight.

What is the law on bringing fish on the plane? Can you hand carry more than 1? I might just do that on my next trip back home.
Go on the TSA.gov website, in the search box in the middle / right, put in "live fish" on the "When I fly, can I bring my..." search box. I brought 2 moorish idols in one bag. It depends on the opinion of the TSA security supervisor whether the bag is to big or not. If he / she says it's too big, we're screwed.
I caught the fish at the beach, placed them in a bucket with small air pump for a day or two, then before my flight, I stopped at the pet shop "Coral Fish Hawaii" to request they put the fish in a bag with oxygen, then take it on your carry-on luggage. The bag can't be too filled up with air, or it may pop or decompress with the plane increasing / decreasing altitude. So as little water as possible is best imo, a lot of air, but slack in the bag as well, so request a big bag. I'm still trying to figure this process out...
Do you still have the idol ? I'm very interested and would like to see some pictures !
Can I bring back corals in the plane? I once put a gorgonian in a bottle of sea water and snuck it on the plane.
corals are illegal to take from HI, as far as i know. plus it's bad luck in hawaii to bring back rock (lava rock) to the mainland.
Moorish Idol is SOLD
