      filtration suggestions

      so i am running a hob aqua clear 70 on my 30g tank but the carbon is giving my tiny blue tang hlle so i need to change my filtration... i saw online that you can change this filter into a hob refugium would that provide adequate filtration for a tank or no?

      How do you know that the HLLE is coming from the carbon? I would never run a tank without carbon.

      There's plenty of information out there that carbon can lead to HLLE but I've always felt it's if the carbon is allowed to get into the system (ie. not rinsed well etc.) I've never run a system without it and I've never had an issue with HLLE.
