Nice!!! I miss my cichlid tank
Very cool! I like Africans
Thanks people. On a side note. Anyone know of any local african breeders? I pretty much wanna try and stick with peacocks an haps. I would rather buy from local breeders vs the stores. Generally it's hit and miss anyways with colorful peacocks at the store.
I know you said you want to avoid stores but Ron Sousy at Pet Kingdom is the Godfather of African Cichlids. I highly recommend talking to him.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to get off my lazy butt and cruise down to PK.
what's up slicktop it's been a while. I'm considering taking down my reef tank and setting it up as a cichlid tank too. Did you use live rock from your reef tank? What kind of filtration are you running?
Marc
Hey whats up Marc. I did use some left over dry rock from my last setup just to have something in the tank for the fish to hide around. Sand is also some aragonite that i had left over. The live rock I just ended up killing and bleaching. I'm planning on still switching all the rock out for maybe slate or sandstone. As for filtration I am just using a DIY wet dry filter. Been the easiest setup I've ever had. I have one powerhead in the tank just to have a bit of a current for the fish to swim in. Water changes once every 2 weeks and clean or change out the filter pads once a month or so. If you ever wanna come check out the setup let me know. Your more than welcome to.

That's dope. I miss how simple a freshwater tank can be.
Yup definitely easier on the wallet and a heck of a lot easier water changes. My water change on my 5 gallon nano takes longer and is more of a pain than this tank!
I'll stick with Africans. It's going to kill me tear down the reef tank and sell it off. I'm kind of sick of the tank right now though.
Nice FW Tank
Great Selection of livestock
