Scripps water -- has funny smell

Hey all this not to start a flame war, but a heads up.

I just filled up 15 gallons and on the drive home I kept smelling a sulfur like smell. When I got home I gave the water a sniff and figured out it was my new batch. Just to make sure I smelled a jug that still contains water from my last re-up and it had no scent.

I didn't want to take any chances so I dumped out the water and tossed the jugs. I am not sure what it is, but if you got water on 1/18 around 9 am inspect the water before you add it to your tank.

EDIT: I have been using Scripps for two years, this is the first time it has happened.

Are you sure there wasn't any old water in the jugs and it's also possible that you didn't drain the water out of the house before you used it maybe

Yeah I'm sure. I always do a sniff test in the jugs. I smelled it during this mornings refill, but dismissed it as just another beach smell.

I just got 30g and it's fine by my account......no smells ,other then normal salty smells........ The beach itself was a little stinky...

Agree I got 25g and nothing out of the norm

Probably just an algae bloom or something in the filters that washed out

There was a guy before me so I didn't run the hose or anything.

Good to hear that people didn't have issues or aren't having issues. Just thought I would put it out there juuuuust in case. I swear though, my batch had some FUNK!

I went back down to give my jugs a sniff and dayam it was bad, Like I posted above I always give my empties a sniff before a fill so it had to be that batch.

Got some today at about 2 PM and no smell for me...

Picked up 200 at 8am yesterday. First time I have ever smelled that. Had to wash out all of my tanks, pumps and hoses after that delivery.
Had a strong smell of chopped up sardines.

Ah man that sucks, but at least it validates the funky smell I had. I may go back today if I have time. I'll be sure to sniff the water from the hose first though.
