Ccnada's 55g Uniquarium
I wanted to share my setup with the sdreefs community. Of all the tanks I've owned for the past 20 years, this is by far the most successful, low cost, low maintenance and most enjoyable I've had.
55g Uniquarium with built in skimmer , running with a Venturi powered Rio600. The wet/dry section is flooded and is used for my fuge with a thick sponge of chaeto. I use cheap 12" LED for the fuge on a timer. I have a filter sock catching the overflow into the filter section of the tank. My return pump is a Rio1200 that feeds a 1/4hp chiller which returns the water through a spray bar across the bottom of my tank just above the live sand. This spray bar was built in the Uniquarium which I think is pretty cool. I have a 300 watt heater in the return compartment. I have a Jebao WP25 at 12v set to ELSE mode, no night mode. This pump is awesome! Way too crazy with the supplied 24v power supply. I also plugged the WP25 to an APC Battery power supply incase of a power outage. Works like a charm! I have 4x 48" LED strips for my main lighting in the canopy on timers.
I change 5g every other week using scripps. I add ro/di water manually as needed which is getting really old. I supplement with Kent Elements Ess.
My system has been running since Feb 2013.
Thanks for looking!
