      RKL setup help

I thought I was pretty good with electronics till I started working with this.
Picked up a RKL used. Got the head unit, pc4 and temp probe.
      I downloaded myreef 2.0.
      Borrowed a Sid v2.
Plugged in the Sid and updated it to the latest upgrade.
What do I do next. I am completely clueless. Tried searching for info but I'm stumped.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
      Thank you.

Setting up the RKL is pretty easy. You just need to program the individual channels. So click on the pc4 that shows up on the list of your modules and you'll see each channel. I believe you just click set up or something along those lines. Once you get to the module you should be able to figure it out.

Thank you. I got the instructions but I didn't see anything about myreef in there. The da website says I need to hook just the head unit into the Sid to program that first. And I don't have the female to female adapter. Guess ill have to get that tomorrow.

      RKL setup help

Right now I can plug the Sid into the pc4 with the head unit in bus 1 with the Sid in bus 2 and the my reef does not recognize there is a head unit. Just the Sid and the pc4.

When I unplug them from the computer and try to turn in the pc4 the head unit is only barely lighting up. No options or anything.

It won't recognize the head unit. The only reason you'd plug the Sid to the head unit is to do a firmware update. DA hasn't released a firmware update for the RKL in a long time. You program the channels by clicking on the pc4 on the upper left hand side where the modules are listed.

      Thanks Jeff.
So as soon as I plug in the head unit and program it the head unit should work right.

What do you see on the head unit? Does it have writing in the display or is it just dark? If you can see the wording in it, then you need to do a factory reset to get everything back to square one. If it is just dim, that may be how the last owner had it set. If there is no writing at all, then you need to update the firmware on it.

      Thanks Dave,
There is no writing at all. Every square on the top row is lit but very very dim. Almost like its not on at all. I'm going to pick up a connector today after work so I can update it. The status on the pc4 is just blinking when it is plugged into the pc4 and turned in
After its updated it should be able to be plugged into the pc4 along with the Sid and I should be able to begin programming the pc4 right?
I appreciate all the help. Thank you.

you don't need the sid to program anything. all you need is the head unit/pc4/temp probe

you need to program each channel to do what you want it to do.

      channel 1 > heater > temp probe > on when below > 78*

you have to play with it for a bit and you will get the hang of it.

The problem is that the head unit is not being recognized.
I got the rj12 pass through connector like the site says and plug it in and it is not recognizing the head unit. I'm clueless at this point what the next step is.

Talked to DA support today. They are going to have me send it in to them for repair.
