basically i really need to get this car back up and running i have cash in hand for a new engine or the cash to pay someone to rebuild the bottom block..

It's probably cheaper to find a used motor and swap it. You could just get a shortblock and use your heads and etc but if your paying for someone to swap it probably cheaper to do the whole thing. I have done many shortblock rebuilds but for what your doing I would just replace the whole motor unless you were doing the work. Mechanics are paid by the hour and it's a lot faster for me to swap a whole motor than to tear down yours, send it off for machining, and then put it back together. If you were restoring an original 327 vette engine I would recommend rebuilding, but for a Honda just find a new motor. Just my .02 cents. I charge 50 an hour Btw, and a swap would take me 8 to 10 hours. Let me know if you need help.

i wouldn't do that, smog becomes annoying bi-yearly afterwards.

i paid a fraction of the cost due to the fact that me and the guy who did the work grew up together. call him for a more accurate quote if possible.

DO NOT GO TO A & H in Kearny Mesa on Convoy. Tony the owner screwed me when my y8 motor had rod knock.
we agreed to put a jdm replacement motor in, after I got the car back I realized it was the 3 stage vtec d15b jdm motor.
Called up the bar and met with the smog ref, the ref said to just remove one of the two vtec solenoids. No matter how much I tried to explain to him that the valve train was different.

I know you posted a while ago, but I just saw this.
Joey is a good guy, I used to hang out with him and his buddies. I haven't seen him in at least 6 years. I need to look that guy up and see how he's doing.
