+1 on trulucks. to save some money if you want, hit up their happy hour if you go during the weekday and then have your dinner.

You can go to Catalina they have free roundtrip for the birthday person and a bunch of free stuff on the island for that person also, but you have to go on that day.

Go to roppongi in la jolla the food is great me and tge wifes favorite happy hour 3 to 6..

there is a Japaneese resturant in Solana beach called the Samurai. It puts the shogun and benihana to shame. If you do go there, make reservations and ask for Rich to be your cook.Buy him a shot or beer and he is the one who picks out what cuts of meat or seafood from the back before cooking, always assures you get the best when he gets a a cocktail in him, plus he's been working there for over 20 years and is a great guy.
