      5 gallon pico

Setting up 5 gallon pico reef today. It has about 8lbs live sand and 8lbs live rock. I used about 2 gallons of water from my established tank, and the rest is Catalina water. I'm not that impressed with the in tank filter. Not a lot of water flow. I know canister filters are not the best option. Although I was thinking of buying a canister filter removing all of the bio beads and just running chemi pure and some filter floss. Has anyone done this? Any thoughts or suggestions?

On my 8G nano I pulled all that out, and threw some bags of chemipure and phosban in the back chambers. filter floss too (replace as necessary). Added a small korelia. It's been up for 2+ years.
