      Reefkeeper elite is it better?

      Im thinking of upgrading my rkl to rke. Whats the difference? Fellow reefer suppose to get my rkl this sunday. If he wont ill try trade it for elite controller.
      But i think if i buy thw package deal is better. Sorry guys if its in the wrong thread.

      Besides the looks and extra pc4 it comes with it doesn't look much better. It is way better in terms of expansion, just depends on what you're trying to do. I probably could have used a lite myself, but I bought it thinking about upgrades.

      The RKE allows for:

      63 modules vs 4 modules
      4 Standby settings vs 1
      Twice as many alarms and timers.
      More info on the display
      More user intuitive interface

      I wouldn't say it is a night and day difference between the two, but it is a significant upgrade.

      The Apex can do 256 but anybody that would run anywhere near that many on a single controller would be taking a risk that is just plain silly. The ability to handle that many modules is really just a by product of their design. Yes it can actually handle it, but why take the risk of that much stuff shutting down if something in the controller head fails?
