Finally ",Back to Seahorses" build :)

Hi all! Am finally getting back to keeping seahorse Picked up an 8 gl JBJ rimless glass tank.. have the "herd" chilling in my fuge now. Was thinking of going glass bottom, to make feeding time easier. Have never gone this way before.. any thoughts? I am going to use live rock and water out of my established reef.. let it run for 2 weeks..and have placed the filter cartridge ( sponge/ carbon bag/ceramic plugs) into my sump to colonize for the cycle period. Anything I am missing/forgetting? Last Nano I had was a decade ago, and came to me turnkey cycled .. so any advice is appreciated!
      Thanks guys!

Looks great, although unless they are dwarfs (which they don't look like), they will most likely need a larger tank at some point. I had mine in a 28G JBJ, and it was a bit small.

Make sure they have plenty of hitching posts. I used gorgonias.

Many pony owners set up a feeding station, but I never found the need. Mine seemed to enjoy chasing the food around the tank. But I also make sure that there was plenty of cleanup crew, because I have sand.

Good luck, I can't wait to see more pics!

Nice looking ponies! Where did you get them from?

I will hopefully be setting up a seahorse tank within a month or so as well...

If you are not going to have sand you will have to pay closer attention to the Ph and alkalinity.

Thanks Fish collection have a bunch! The red one in the first pic came out REALLY red though.. it is more a darkish red, but still gorgeous! wonder about cycling it though.. if I go bare bottom w LR from my reef DT is it needed to let the tank cycle still? I have filter cartridge in my sump now to cure.. but I am so anxious to get this little guy going!

Fish Collection has a bunch.. all eating frozen mysis too! Am thinking about adding the Mandarin pair in there with them.. since they both eat frozen too. Not sure about bioload though.. have some checking to do BTW... she is STILL holding a belly full.. they should be spawning anytime now! They are in my sump, for the time being. Arin ( lol) has gotten skinny, paying too much attention to his baby Mama.. so they are getting fat and happy in the refugium for now. Less stress for them too , being a " Private room"! ;P

Haha. That's cute! You would probably need a bigger tank if you add the mandi pair in with the horses. Unless they are dwarfs.

Ya.. That and I might be undoing their "training" in the fuge! They are going nuts eating all the live pods now! :/ lol.. gonna pour in a batch of backups just in case!

My wife used to keep one (really I kept it, she looked at it). She loved it. Might be time to shop for a nano!
