though i agree with not chasing problems w/ chemicals, in a closed system like we all have, some sort of additive is the only way. esp w/ PH. like i said earlier kent's superbuffer dkh(powder) worked...
kent superbuffer dkh. i had trouble raising ph and had high alk too, that helped me out. ive read baking soda can do it but id do a lot of research to find out if its safe.
ph-8.2
ammonia-0
nitrite-0
nitrate-0
phosphate-0
calcium-around 520
salinity-1.023
its a possibility but is not a well established system, could my water qual really be too good? i had a tiny rock with 2 zoas i got for free and they didnt make it. my salinity is 1.023.
ok, im sure some of you guys know from my previous posts that my 10g tank crashed a long time ago so i re-did my setup w/ a sump that includes a refugium. right now the refugium just has a dsb...
the sand in my tank got kind of grey-ish and hard...my params are good but could those be false due to whats causing the hard sand? its a new tank thats been cycling for about a month. my lights are...
yeah they were healthy. some were dead, turned to mush when i touched them. theres some that are still solid though.
any suggestions?
hmmm, some had a film i removed w/ a powerhead. damn, thats frustrating...sad too, it was my fav rock and my wife bought it for our anniversary, she hate my tank and the money i throw at it so it was...
anybody?
yea, definately giving them more time than i have so far, i just dont have experience with zoas and dont know what signs they give if theyre dead/dying, or how long theyll stay closed if theyre...
i have a rock of zoa's i picked up a little while ago. my tank still had a little too high nitrite and the zoas were exposed for just less than a day before i removed them and put them in a separate...
it alternates with my main tank and the main tank is on for about 10 so the fuge light is on for 14 or more.
6500k compact
bump, would like to keep the discussion goin...still not cycling by the way.
aside from lighting and fish waste, what helps with the health of the stuff, and what makes it grow better? is a co2 system in my refugium a good idea?
as far as "dirty water" being a myth id have to disagree, its proven that soft corals utilize nitrates and having 10ppm can in fact be beneficial. granted other corals wont tolerate it so running...
300 is huge, id kill for a tank that big. i think you need to combine and go to one or 2 tanks personally. you're making it work not a hobby at that rate. i just had a tank crash lost 15 mushrooms i...
yeah, the only reason i stirred it up was because my tank crashed, nothing in it was living and i was redoing it. fully aware of the effects itd have.
im actually not using a supplement designed...
really, y toss 90% of it? i know stirring it up releases a lot of bad stuff but y not stir it up and get rid of the water rather than the sand? i didnt move but it woulda been the same really.
yeah ive got time, what do you guys use as far as additives? ive used nite-out for a while now and its been good, anything else you guys have seen better results w/?
7"x3" give or take
i guess so, need a place to put my zoa rock, its home right now is temporary. should i do 10% every day til my params are good as you would w/ a spike in an established tank or less since im trying...
radmans tank is mind boggling, he has 10lbs of crap in a 5 lb bag. i mean, theres so much stuff in there idk how id care for it all, very carefully i guess. either way its B-E-A-utfiul hope someday i...
