I am using the clear heat proof silicone adhesive sold by ac-rc. I ordered it at the same tile as the lens.
The same thing with mine, the lens reflector does not fit. The pins don't line up properly due to the thickness of the chrome plating. I took a small file and very gently ruduced the chrome thickness...
Just got my dreamchip! I'll post some pics of my progress soon.
Hey all,
What is the best way to solder the 5 wires to the wire from the driver? Is there a connection I should use to assist or do I just braid all 5 wires with the driver lead, solder and shrink...
Nevermind on measuring current. I spent a few hours learning how to do this and I feel I have a much better grasp on the topic.
Hey guys, being completely new to electronics I realize this is a 101 type question but after I wire my led in parallel, where to I take my measurements with the multimeter to find the.current for...
Lasse,
You stated measurements " based on your chip". Would you not expect to see the same readings on all of the chips since they are made the same and of the same components?
Thanks Lasse, I must have missed that one:)
So are your newer recommendations a reflection of further testing you have done?
Do you think this one would be better suited?

[QUOTE=Lasse;775699]Which driver?
Sincerely Lasse[/QUOTE
HLN-80-36B
Thanks for the reply Lasse, I ordered this driver to use on the 100 watt led. Do you think this is the safest driver to power all 5 channels in parallel?
Lasse,
I received this info from a rep at jameco regarding the HLN-80-36B for the chip (all 5 channels)
--By the way, if your LED unit is actually 100W, the HLN-80H-36B many be

Lasse,
Would you mind linking me an example of what type of 100k pot I should be looking into? Again I will be using a HLN-80H-36B driver.
Thank you,
Justin
Lasse
I think I'm missing something. I only see info about attaching a 1-10 pot to that driver. :confused2:
Are you satisfied with the color? Mind a full tank shot? I won't be using individual drivers so I'm anxious to the the full chip with all channels @ 100%
Sounds good. My driver is backordered for 6 weeks anyway.
Keep the shots coming I'm glad to see the growth for you. Are you running all 5 channels at the same level?
I will be using HLN-80H-36B to drive all 5 channels. It says dim with a 1-10v pot but in not sure if it needs its own power.
Hey guys,
How long after the 1st group buy did it take to get your chip? I'm assuming the manufacture the number of chips needed.
Where can I find a 1-10v pot. My searches keep yielding drivers...
If you choose to use one than yes, that is an option. Ac-dc sells an aluminum one on ebay
Lasse,
The article you posted from the advanced aquarist stated:
"Many hobbyists tried to use inexpensive no-brand Chinese LEDs in the pure actinic range. However, their efficiency is low and,...
Bob- not everyone is using an adapter plate but copper/aluminum seems to be a preferred choice. I wont be using one with my cooler, I would prefer the chip come in direct contact with he cooler....
Lasse,
Thank you for posting the spectrum article. What an informative read. One of the statements that stood out was discussing the quality of Chinese LEDs, specifically the actinic spectrum. It...
Lasse,
If I chose to purchase and install the HLN-60H-36B it would power each channel @ 1.7 amps? Am I reading that correctly? My tank will most likely be around 20 inches deep. Would that be a bit...
I will be custom building a tank to match this light. Im planning a 20-24" X 24" X 20 ( or close to). I want to mount the light as a single pendant around 18" or so above the tank. I like the idea of...
