i've had both. 1.4 is worth it. it is faster to focus, quieter, and crisp.
if you are on a budget, the 1.8 is a great little lens, but if you have the money, the 1.4 hands down is the choice.

just start wearing gloves when you move rocks around. those bristles will sting you and can be difficult to get out of your skin. there is a lovely picture of my hand on wet web media. i grabbed a...
there are many ways they could have gone unnoticed. but, you have them now, and they are getting enough food to multiply like crazy.
i would get rid of them. nobody will want to take any of your...
yep. flatworms indeed.
i think i am moving back in about a year. i'll be in L.A. for the holidays.
if i can swing a tank together, i will be interested.
working on getting a nano put together or aquired.
man, i won't make this one.
yep. still serving in the Navy.
Thanks for those pics Vince.

i doubt anyone would notice.
family is doing great. it's especially nice that someone else is footing the bill for my addiction!
Hello everybody! long time no see.
For those of you that don't remember me, I'm jon. i used to live in San Diego and i like reef tanks!
I now live in Poulsbo, WA where i've started working at the...
used only by the weak. you need to learn to taste the specific gravity.
very nice, indeed. i need to set up at least a clown tank.
well, i'm off to the great PACNORWEST. if anybody is ever in the Seattle area, look me up. enjoy the hobby, share the wealth, eat your vegetables.

100 PAR is a general rule for SPS. but this can vary depending on species.
i'm not sure on the number for too much PAR, but if your corals are bleaching, and not opening, there is too much.
thanks for all the warm wishes. yep, the big 30.
you don't want that many in your tank. you should toss one in my tank.
you would need a receipt in case you get audited. it is unlikely that LED's on an aquarium count as they are not part of normal home operation. unlikely it would raise any attention, but being...
yes you can. how old is the b/w? b/w's can be quite aggressive when they reach full maturity. if the clown is not full grown then, it should be pretty easy to just plop the naked in and not give...
when i switched to LED's i dropped the length of my lighting schedule and slowly raised it over a few weeks. any time you change lighting methods you should do this. each type has a different form...
i used it when i filled my new 60g. i didn't have any issues with it. i didn't test all the ca, alk, mg levels to see how they compared.
very cool pics. love that nudi, what an awesome find!
it'll be a great time! food, people, and lot's of info to be shared among friends. hope to see you all there.
the color of those clowns is ridiculous! very nice tank.
exactly my concern. Ron get's a lot of corals from other peoples tanks. if they have sick fish, that disease can ride in on the coral, and then into your tank.
Scripps is fine. lot's of people...
i would personally run it all day. the more exposure you are getting, the better. plus, starting up UV bulbs causes a lot of wear and tear, and may end up costing you in the long run due to a...
