I would second the Blackrockreef frag racks. I've used them for years and have never had a problem with them. Their magnets are very strong and hold everything you put on them.
Have you checked out the Ecotech light over one of the frag tanks at AquaSD? Would probably give you a pretty good idea if one would be enough.
7"-9.5" is what is recommended.
