Scripps is supposed to be good for starting and water changes. I'm switching to it this weekend. We're pretty fortunate to have this available to us in S.D. I know lots of other reefers would kill to have free clean saltwater available to them.

Yah I have been using it for about 6 months or so in my tank(s). No problems.

Make sure to check the salinity, it occasionally is a little high. Usually right at 1.024 though.

Oh, the Calcium tends to be low if you have SPS/clams...

What the hell is going on with the water today?? I went this morning to get water, and there's all sorts of "floaties" and hair algae in it! What gives? Needless to say, I postponed doing my water change. Has this happened to anyone else before? 2+ years getting water there and this is the first time...go figure, the same day I buy a ton of SPS frags.... arrgh

Gotta say, my tanks have never looked happier. Did a 10% change on the 55, and about 5% add on my 29 (salt level was low, so I topped off with scripps) and everything looks 100% healthier.

Should I top off only with fresh water, but do water changes with this?

Yea i do daily top off's with fresh RO water, and weekly (some times bi weekly) water changes with scripps 20% of your tanks volume is your best bet.
