I have been dreaming about having an sps tank and I was never succesful of growing it. Couple months ago when I started learning how to grow them using my ai sol blue. And now my dream just answered and come true. "I finally have an sps tank". And to all experts and masters I will definetely need your advice and help naming all my colonies.
Thanks in advance,
John

SPS are pretty easy...stable clean water, with appropriate lighting, and you are set.

Your going to be an SPS "GURU"

You have the skimmer, lights, Just make sure the flow is good in your tank. extra flow for any tabling colonies. if waste gets trapped in between the branches you can have tissue loss which can spread. in your 120 gallon tank a good goal for flow is 6000 gallons per hour of random flow. thats 50X per hour. you can get away with 30-40 some times but have to plan it well.

phosphates and nitrates need to stay really low.

Stability, flow, lighting. Probably in that order as well.

If you get close up pictures of the bigger ones you can probably get ID's. we would need to see the coralite shapes though.

here you go
http://coral.aims.gov.au/

its more about looking at the coralite shapes . you have to figure out the general shape and then narrow down based on the coralites. but most small frags and colonies are almost inpossible to tell.

I minimize my powerhead by taking all the korallia1 out. I left the koralia 3 amd 2Xkoralia 2 to the left side of the tank. And I add mp40 to the other side
Lmk if that would be acceptable for now till I pickup another mp40

that should be fine as far as flow. placement of corals should be done partially with flow in mind. Tighter branching tables should get more flow.

I have check my perameters earlier and this is the results.
Calcium 500
alkalinity 8.4
magnesium 1240
And Im currently checking amonia, nitrate, nitrite.
Lmk if this are too high or acceptable.

So far I have some nice opening on zoas and pallys collection. Also sps are still under acclimation from my lights.

I also want to share some random pictures of my rbta and couple of my zoas/pally collection

Mag is a little low and ca is on the higher side which is weird because mag directly effects ca and low mag usually means low ca. I will say that your tank is awesome, wish I had more time the other day to really look at it. Looking forward to seeing the fish that is taking the place of the PT. Always been one of my favorite fish just never brave enough to pull the trigger on one.
