So I was going to completetly break my 180 system down and my wife suggested we keep a smaller tank. We got our hands on a 60 Cube complete setup that came with an LED fixture, SWC skimmer and a pretty good return pump and now this is going to be the new addiction. I am definitly pretty excited about this setup I ve always wanted a Cube. I've got all the plumbing complete now and will be adding all the livestock that I can fit from my 180. Im hoping to have it all running tonight. :bounce:

during a power outage what stops your tank from draining out? Is there an overflow or does the pipe stop near the top of the tank or something?

I have a cube also with an SWC skimmer. I really have liked cubes for years and you can scape way better than the 90's rock wall.

Yea I've always loved the way a cube looks and when it's done nicely and the rock work Is done nice they are the best looking tanks around. At least in my oPinion

So this sucks it's midnight me and my wife get all the rock and coral in the tank and the darn bulk head on the sump for the return pump sheared in half and dumped about 15 gallons of water everywhere. Good thing I put quick releases. On the pIping cause that could've been worse. Almost had the tank completely up and running UGH!!!!!!! This blows !!!

just my opinion, nice clean setup... but to have a better use of your return pump, you should avoid all those 90 degrees bend... you loose GPH each bend.

Yea good point Dave tomorrow most of them are going away I'm going to make a cleaner, less 90 degree setup. hopefully it works out better.

I was about to comment on the return configuration. All those bends are restricting flow. I'd just use some soft tubing and go straight from the pump to the tank.

I would use soft tubEs just hate the way it looks. The reason those bends are on the pump as well is because the skimmer is in there and it barely fits. So I'll have to adjust fire on the other bends. I'm definitely going to make it a little more cleaner

I'd ditch the cover on the return section and put the skimmer in there. The water level in there is going to be more consistent than the return section. This will allow the skimmer to work more efficiently. That'll help you to clean up all those elbows!

So the tank is fully up and running, I need to take some better shots but here is one for now.
