thought this would be a fun build to post along the way.

This weekend I bought a setup from a medical office in Hemet. My brothers who own a moving company moved the office and there customer asked if they knew anyone that mite want the office tank. so they past her info of me. I was told it was an established 140G reef tank that has been running for 9 years. So Sunday me and Reefer38 made the drive down to HOT AS HELL Hemet. and what we found....... was well NOT a reef tank. It was a Very neglected 135G Fish only with live rock. Most the rock was hidden by algae though. So after renegotiating the price we started the breakdown.

And after about 4.5hr we were back on the road

After seeing the tank both me and Reefer38 decided we should not set this tank back up in the condition it is in.
The sand was toast. and the over flow had the nastiest merk in the bottom. the rock was REALLY nice pieces but has so much nastiness on them they need FULL rehab dried, cleaned, and recycled.

All the fish were caught and I set up my QT and they are all super happy getting 2 meals a day.

So now the tank is setting in my showroom waiting for me to purchase the equipment to turn this once bad excuse of a FOWLR in to a beautiful piece of the ocean.

Nice score. In the first picture, the tank looks like a well taken care freshwater planted tank.

way to not rush it. that rock will just cause problems without cooking it. Keep us posted on this thread.

so as of now the fish are all still doing great in QT. thinking this tank is going to be a FOWLR. there are a lot of
fish i want and this will give them the room to live and be happy.

and the rocks are drying out really nice. they well be ready to start curing soon.

update post:

so the rocks are finally cycling. I am doing the first week in Ro/Di water only then going to switch to salt.
Wow, the smell that came off the rocks after the first few days of soaking would NOT be considered
aroma therapy. I have already cycled that water out and have it setting in fresh DI.

here are some pics.

thanks for following along.

scrubbed and cleaned (the pile in front is what I got of the rocks, ewwwww)
