Better late than never ! Here we go !

I tried to build this tank on a budget , like most , and I think I did pretty well . I had a 125 prior to this build and was inspired by Johnnyairtime's 240 , after seeing his BEAUTIFUL tank , I needed a bigger , wider tank ! It is a standard 180 ( 6x2x2 ) Visio glass tank , I ordered it from Ron at OG . Then after a bit of a search I found my stand , it is a 36" tall custom built stand w/ flush mounted doors and a 1 3/4" lip , I picked this up from a former member ??? Megalops out in Menifee . After picking up the tank , I then drove it out to get it drilled and have the overflows made and installed . The work was all done by Larry M. ( RIP ) , he set it up with w/ dual corner overflows w/ 1 1/2" drains and 3/4" returns and a " WAVES IN GLASS " silent drain kit ! He also built me a 60 gallon sump/refugium after I broke the one I had trying to install it .

The returns were outfitted with check valves incase of a power outage , and then the plumbing beagn !

The drains dump into the sides of the sump , then the water flows thru the skimmer section ( BIG ASM G4 x w/sedra 9000 I picked up from Elias ) on the left and the refugium section on the right . The the water is pumped back into the tank by a MAG 18 that runs thru a 3/4" SCWD and flow enductors .

So ,the tank has been up and running for about 6 months now , I tried to arrange the rock work with a " minimalist " style , and make 3 islands . The lighting cosists of 3 120w LED fixture that I purchased from Larry M. They were modified with 3 new , more silent fans each , and are setup with 2 circuits of 14,000k white , 1 circuit of 460nm , and 1 circuit of 453nm . Each circuit has it's own push button on/off switch and each fixture has it's own timer/controller . I hung them from a lot of shelving brackets from Home Depot . I have recently moved them up so they are not so close the water .

(http://s1130.photobucket.com/albums/m529/madjamey/?action=view¤t=securedownload-9.jpg) I recently broke down the tank , mainly to remove the deep , fine sand bed that was blowing all over the tank due to my new Vortech MP-60w Es . I did this in a 4 /12 hour period , and set the tank back up bare bottom , and added about 50-60lbs of rock from another tank and some that I had had out in the sun for a few months . I then added some crushed coral to the tank after a lot of back and forth ( in my head ) about what I was going to add . I had a 5 gallon bucket of the crushed coral that I got PIF from JAT , and I LOVE IT !!! It's very clean and white , makes the tank look very bright . I do not have picture of the " new look " at the moment , but will add some maybe tomorrow ???
