Sweet custom light fixture!!!! Are you makeing an inclosed hood or is it going to float over the top, with a hanging kit?

Me too. I just setup my nano. It came with a cool little led fixture, 9watts, I think. But not enough to support what I want . Been looking at the PAR38 bulbs, but have no idea how I would mount it. I don't have a lot of room on my desk for a big lamp. Where did you get your PAR38 from? And did it come with the dimmable controller?

Nice pico jesse looking good!
+1 on where u got the light. I hear that boostLED carries very good par30 or par38 bulbs. rapidLED, ecoxotic or marinedepot are others that carry em too..

Why not just DIY a Par38? They use the CREE XR-E, XP-G, etc I think I read somewhere. In the ones from Rapid and EvilPar38's I think it was. It is just 5x3w. I also read the warm white is what alot of people are starting to go for like in the AI Nano's. People are saying the Cool white gives off too much blue giving the tank a really blue (Frosty) look. I was thinking about DIYing one like the AI Nano using Warm Whites and Blue (Not Royal Blue).

I wanna try to DIY this but using the XR-E.

Instead of having one Cree XM in the middle like in the link above, i was gonna do either 2 or 3 of the XP-G's and have 4 (Blue CREE XP-G's) in the same cluster around the whites like in the picture. so instead of having a total of 5 led's in the cluster like the AI I will have 6 maybe 7. If I do 3 of the whites in the middle I will go it in a triangle shape and have the blues on the outside in the same places as the AI. Using the same footprint. All being powered by a 24v 5A 120w Supply/Driver. That should be able to push the LED's at max power giving a total of 36-42 watts. The AI is 35 total watts. I am hopin to get the same or more par from the DIY at 1/8 of the price.

The Par38 bulb he has looks like the Ebay ones that have 12x1w led's that run about $60-$80 .... I found one on ebay that was 12x1 with 120 deg optics for like 38.00 but didnt like the optics..... Let us know how the PAR38 does over the tank.....
