I am looking to build a new way to hang my lights as opposed to drilling into the ceiling.

I have a rimless tank and do not want any sort of canopy.

My current lights are three AI SOL 12" modules on a 48" hanging rack.

My idea is something like a thicker grade conduit line (or something more elegant) that will be bolted onto my stand from the back, come up to about 20" or so above the tank, bend at a 90 degree angle and come over the tank and be able to hold the cables which hold the light hanging rack.

The idea would be something similar to this, but this one looks a little on the flimsy side.

If anyone has any ideas that would be greatly appreciated!

Home Depot. Cost me like $8.00.

Have 2 arms like this one that are just basically up side down L's. I screwed the bottom to the stand. Wood was like 1.97 ea. Havent had a chance to paint or stain it yet but this will give you an idea. I also use the Hydroponic light lifters that are like 20 a pair. If I had it to do over I would use 2x2 just because I do not like the flatness of it lol. The one I made holds my light very well when I move it up and down to clean or whatever. I also seen metal shelving that would work as well just a bit more money. Just have a walk through Home Depot and open your mind.

Another solution is to run an outlet like you would for a wall mount television. Install some floating shelves (there are many to choose from) then mount your LED's underneath the shelves. Run the cords to the outlet above the shelves for a clean "no wires" look. You even have a spot now to display some pictures of family, coral, etc...

If your scared about how sturdy it is just make sure you use something thick for the build. Like wood you can use a 2x4. 2x4's wouldnt give way.
