View Full Version : Filter Sock Washing Service?????

Hey Everyone,

I've been getting quite a few people that have trouble washing their filter socks on a regular basis. As many of you know, we do laundry at the shop on a daily basis with all the socks and towels we go through.

We are thinking about setting up a filter sock washing service. Possibly drop off your socks on Tuesday/Wednesday, we will make sure the socks are washed and dried by Thursday, and then everyone can pick up over the weekend?

We do 4 cycles with our socks. First cycle with bleach, then 3 cycles just plain water to ensure nothing harmful is left on the filter sock.

Details:

- $1 per sock per wash
- Drop off on Tuesday and Wednesday
- Pick up on Friday, Saturday or Sunday

I use just a touch of wool light no bleach then the same rinse cycle

Yeah I hate soaking it in bleach at home. How much per sock?

I read once that bleach removed the color from the sock particles but did little more than washing with water would do. However, hydrogen peroxide H2O2, aka oxy-clean, dissolves the particles a bit better, allowing them to be more easily removed from the sock.

Just a stupid question but how do you know the ownership of the sock after you put 30-50 socks (from different reefers) in there? Is there a way to ID them later?

Good question. We will ask you to write your name on the filter sock's strap. Will be able to tell by that.
