I set up a CPR Aquafuge about a week ago with a small piece of LR and a wad of Cheato , I have not added any live sand yet. I know these are supposed to build up a slime coat , but mine is thick and dark red , and you can't even see into the fugue. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or have I done something wrong ???

The tank is a holding tank while I'm in the middle of a move , but I set it up bare bottom with a few prices of LR from my established tank about 3 weeks ago. The tank is clean and clear , it's just the Aquafuge itself.

Sounds like cyanobacteria. Is there any livestock in this tank?

I have 3 fish in this tank. I am using the light that came with the Aquafuge , not sue what bulb is in it ( at the moment ) , and the whole set up has only been pu and going for a week.
