I get it. Yeah that overflow kit for the prizm is too big to put the skimmer overflow and tube right up against the glass, so i just ditched it. Now, every once in a while a snail will wander up there. Thats a good idea. It probably keeps the algae from groing in the tube also. Did you shorten the skimmer tube or leave it as is?

I took the strainer bottom and cut it with scissors so it keeps the overflow from floating up. It is basically a 1 1/2 " by 6 " piece of PVC. I capped the bottom. Then to hold it in place so I could adjust the height, I used a piece of filter floss and jammed it in there. Yup that's it. I can't believe I made something that works so well.

Did you just cram the filter floss around the sides of the PVC pipe? what kinda filter floss? I have the preskimmer upgrade on my prism and its a PITA, I constantly have to adjust.

Yes it is just crammed inside the PVC.

what did you use to cap off the bottom? sorry, Im just interested in trying one for my skimmer, I constantly have problems adjusting with the preskimmer

I bought some disposable tupperware and cut a circle and superglued it closed.
