micro bubbles!!!!!!

I just started a salt water fish tank and I purchesed a used protine skimmer and as soon as I started it a lot of micro bubles keep coming out how do I get rid of them makes the tank look dirty help!!!:curse:

depending on what type of skimmer this is, it may just be breaking in. Also, check the seals around the impeller if it's a needle wheel pump, if the seal is not tight on the pump, you can leak bubbles from the pump where the air intake is and get bubbles not just from the skimmer output. That can be fixed with a bit of teflon tape around the impeller seal in most cases.

I've also had times after I cleaned my skimmer where it would produce microbubbles for about a day and then stop after it breaks in, but the microbubble issue can depend on the model you are using too.

my old CPR bak pak took a day or two to clear up. if it doesn't after that, there are mods you can do depending on your brand and model.
