im starting to get back in the hobbie and really want to do a led fixture for the 60 cube (thanks michael) and was wondering how many leds i should get and what brand, thanks for any advice

Most people go 24-36 LED's for the 60G. You can get away with 24 on the lower end but it can lead to a bit less coverage so you may have some more shadows.
How are you planning on mounting the light fixture? How high above the water will it be?
That can make a big difference as you can go higher which will spread the light out a bit and use optics to get better penetration. Also having the LED's away from the water is a good thing.

i was thinking of putting them about 8 inches above the water and thinking about hanging the fixture
