Two Great White sharks sighted by a surfer off of La Jolla Shores. Pretty cool video taken. Skip about a minute into it to save you some time.

I've been diving and seen a lot of sharks but never a great white (don't want to see one). Nice video though.

That video was shot at San O. Chuck was out there the day before and saw the sharks. He came back the next day about the same time and found the sharks with his camera. Very Cool Video.

Yeah, Sano, and actually those 2 whitey's have been staying there for years now, and in fact the lifegaurds even named them a while back, Fluffy, and Jessy James.
Local surfers don't even sweat em, see em, just keep surfing.
There's great sighting info on Sharkresearchcomittee.com
My friend Mike Forman is the guy that was on a Stand up paddleboard w/ the 10' whitey just cruising along beside him back in June.

The leopards are in La Jolla pretty heavy right now, and fairly clear water.
Perfectly harmless.
If you've never done it, you're missing out.
5-15' of water, don't need anything but goggles/mask.

Your right Dave. La Jolla is awesome. I learned to dive there and of course snorkeled there. The guitar fish and rays are really cool too. Seeing the Garibaldi in the kelp is breath taking.

Never saw the Great Whites though......

^^ I saw aerial shots on the news and it looked spectacular!
They are perfectly harmless, small mouth, eat mainly small crustaceans.
Here's a vimeo I found, but water is even more clear right now than this vid.

How is the water temp? Wetsuit needed?

^^ surface water temps are about 64, so not bad, especially in afternoon.
Early am may want some kind of suit.

Not so bad except for the fact that it's mid august and the temp should be 70. Of course it keeps all the swimmers out of the lineup which is a plus. I had a brief session yesturday and the water was pretty frigid.

Sitting on a board exposed to air/breeze while wet is definitely going to feel colder.

From San Diego FOX News Channel 6, "Warning Issued after More Shark Sightings".

Same story basically just a warning that more sharks have been sighted.

I'm not surprised, supposedly they have been breeding off Point Loma for many years now, but I've always heard they don't hunt/feed during that time, and then they follow the trench out to sea afterwards, then cut towards Catalina.
That is supposed to be the normal pattern.
But all them seals at childrens pool now...gotta wonder, they do tend to stay where food is abundant.

...it's all psychological. You yell barracuda, everybody says, "Huh? What?" You yell shark, we've got a panic on our hands.

sharks are nothing to worry about anywhere around here... try surfing alone in west Oz... or how about with a buddy spearing in maui attracting, um unwanted attention
