Anyone out there used a Wave2k wavemaker? I was planning on putting a centr unit on one end of my 5' 100G tank. $215isalot of money for asingle wavemaker, but I don't like the solid stream effect of my maxijets on a wavemaster pro. Speaker of...if I go with the wave2k...the pro will be up for grabs.

These things are interesting, but not really all they are cracked up to be.

They are tempermental to setup/ operate and don't really move all that much water.

The best effective "wavemakers" are the electronic Tunze Turbelle Stream pumps and their multi-function controllers. The downside side is that they are hugely exensive, but damn do they do the job impressively (and very little electrical draw).

The Tunze Wavebox is a tuned pump that makes an honest-to-god wave inside the tank. It is requires a minimum length tank and must be tuned to each tank's set up (which isn't exactly simple sometimes).

There is a video around soomewhere of the wavebox in action that is impressive. Try seaching Reef Central.

how much would the Tunze Wave box cost? and I couldn't find the link on reef central..... very curious about it.

I'm getting a new 120 (48x24x24) in a couple of weeks, curious to the purpose and uses of a wavemaker. Is it to make things seem more natural?

It is somewhere at or near $450. Roger at the Tunze forum on Reef Central should be able to help you out with a link to the video if it isn't coming up.

These links work for me, the other one doesn't want to work (for me at least). There are a couple other videos floating around that show much the same thing.

Thanks for the viedoes guys! the wave box looks pretty cool... but it effective, doesn't look like it creates enough circulation. I didn't see any complaints in the reefcentral forum though..

One reply said "comes with other forms of circulation" what do they mean?

I bought one. It is in the closet with all the other items that don't work as advertised. I found it took up a lot of real estate. In addition, it was quite loud. The amount of water movement wasn't great. Strong flow directly in front, but didn't travel well across my tank.
