Hey Ron (my fish store buddy - we always seem to show up to the same store at the same time don't we?) - Good find! I have a similar star shaped one and based on Borneman's book, I think it best fits under Scolymia vitiensis due to its single oral opening. Looks great in your tank! : )

It's hard to visually identify these corals. Such a futile effort since they all look the same and diferent at the same time ;) You're welcome to borrow the Borneman book to check yourself, Ron.

By the way, I couldn't resist and I got the Watanabei. She was a steal!

These coral are very popuar in Japan, and semi hardy, does it have a short skeletal stalk or a long one...if it is long, it will grow better if it is placed with the mantle flush with your substrate. they are also cool to watch devoar whole peeled shrimp! I had one that was green outer portion with a flouresent red center..stalk meas about 3" dai..but the mantle expanded a good 11" inches
