I plan to build a canopy w/ metal halides and actinic power compacts. My question is, how close can I place the metal halides to the power compacts without one causing damage to the other? Will the heat from a MH bulb damage a PC bulb? Anyone, everyone, please let me know. Thanks!

I have in my 29 gallon canopy 2x55 watt PC's and 1x150 HQI.
I have a PC on each side of the HQI (Parallel) so maybe 1-2 inches, never had a problem. However if the fan (airflow) points at the HQI bulb it turns off.

Thanks for the info. Wait a minute...so if you have a fan cooling your MH...it turns off? That's wierd. Anyone else have this happen?

I have heard that de bulbs need to be hot to run properly, and if a fan is blowing directly on it, it won't work right.

I have an old PC fixture...maybe I'll put one of my 150W DE MH retrofit kits in there and see if it has any detrimental affects on the PC bulb.
